Kristine Peed
Watercolor
CAA instructor
Kristine Peed has lived in Iowa for nearly 50 years, but was raised in New York State. She describes her experience with art as being “born with a pencil in hand” and has been a sketch artist for decades. During the COVID Pandemic, Peed started incorporating color into her work as she endeavored to teach herself to use watercolor. For her, it did not take long to experience the benefits and sheer delight of watercolor. She has since gone on to teach others with an emphasis on the potentially life-changing effects creating can provide.
In her work, Peed always tries to include something unique in each piece of art she creates; whether it be humor, social commentary, or a hidden iconic symbol. Her pieces reflect the current state of both her joy and struggles. In addition to art, she has been a life-long poet and creative writer, with many of her art pieces serving as a backdrop for her writing. Peed and her husband retired to Newton, Iowa in 2022.
