“Creativity is a language everyone can speak”
“Gathering in a way to play and connect is vital to sustainability and well-being of our communities.”
“When coming up with a name for the festival, a single word kept popping into her [Co-Host Sophie Kruger’s] head: landmark. It is a fitting term. To her, the town is full of landmarks. It comes in the form of art like sculptures or murals, but it also comes in the form of people like Deaton and Don and Dori Byers, who founded the Iowa Sculpture Festival.
Perhaps even that, too, can be considered a landmark. The Iowa Sculpture Festival also led to the creation of the Centre for Arts & Artists, also founded by the Byers. One thing leads to another, evolves and becomes something greater. Much like the images in the panoramic art piece Kruger remembered so fondly.”
