We believe creativity lives in everyone and since our founding in 2007, we’ve been committed to providing an environment for the creation of art. We offer a range of classes for all ages taught by experienced working artists. We invite you to join us!

Spring Art Club!
$20 per student for all 6 weeks.
Meeting Time: Afterschool (3:30pm) to 5pm
Meets weekly on Wednesdays starting May 7th, ending June 11th.
Students in Grades 3rd to 6th grade
This is an unstructured time for young artists to foster creative endeavors and work with their peers. Materials will be provided at no additional cost, but the students are encouraged to bring along any projects that they are working on. Students will have access to guidance from professional artists and a wide range of mediums, including paint, pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, pastel, and more. Max, 20 students.


Printmaking - Linocut Basics
Tues, May 27th | 6pm to 8pm
Learn how to create beautiful hand-pulled prints with step-by-step instructions from local artist Sophie Kruger! Beginner-friendly, no experience required. The design is entirely your choice! We will be learning how to create linocut prints, which is done by carving a design into linoleum and then printing. The final design can be printed many times, so you’ll leave with more than one original masterpiece!
Ages 12 & Up. $5 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot. Price is $15 per person, which includes all necessary materials, and step-by-step instruction. Please bring cash or a check on the day of class to pay the rest of the class fee.

Painting Foundations
8 Week Course - Tuesdays, 5:30pm to 8:30pm
June 3rd to July 22nd
Instructor: Sophie Kruger
$125 per student. Class fees can be paid online or in person.
Registration deadline: Tues, May 27th.
Students will learn the basics of acrylic painting, including basic color theory and composition. In addition, students will explore how to critique and talk about art professionally. Other than still life and Plein Air (weather permitting), subjects will be the students’ choice.
Class fee includes a set of paint, brushes, and paper, which the students will keep. In addition to group instruction, students can have one-on-one help, if needed. Students are encouraged to bring their own sketchbook.
Min. 2 students, max 20. Missed classes can be rescheduled with the instructor. Enter through West Side Ramp Door.


June Clay Class
SAT June 13 - 9am to 12pm . Learn to throw pots on the wheel with Chris Noel! Perfect for beginners - Learn skills to throw simple forms that will be beautiful and usable. The class will focus on cylinders that can be turned into mugs or other objects. If you can already throw, you are free to make other forms.
After making your pots they must dry for several days & then be fired. After firing, you return to glaze your pots. They are fired again, this locks the color in place and provides that shine and toughness of stoneware. After the final firing, your pottery will be ready for pickup.
$50 per person, including a $10 non-refundable deposit to hold your spot. Please bring cash/check to pay the class fee. All the steps required for your pottery are included: instruction, clay, trimming, glaze, 2 firings.
Ages 12 & up, please enter through west handicap ramp door. Min. of 2 students to hold this class.

Tile Glazing
FRI June 20th | 6PM to 8PM Please read all information
Create a one of a kind glazed tile with guidance from Chris Noel! Glazed tiles are heat-proof, water resistant, and cleanable, making them perfect for coasters, trivets, or simply a beautiful art piece.
Price is $12 per person for one 4 inch tile. Additional tiles are $6 each. Trivet frames will be available for $8 each. A non-refundable deposit of $5 is required to hold your spot, and this will be applied to your class fee. Please bring a check or cash to pay the class fee the day of.
All ages welcome! Children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult. All materials are provided, but feel free to bring your 4-inch design. Please enter through the west handicap ramp door.


Let's Paint! Watercolor Floral
Join watercolorist Kris Peed Thursday evening, May 15th from 5:30-7:30 pm. Learn techniques in how to create beautiful loose florals, from delicate stems to bold bouquets!
Class price is $20, including a $5 non-refundable deposit to hold your spot. Please bring cash or a check with you to pay the remaining class fee. All materials will be provided. Class size is limited. Adults 18 and up.

Mother's Day Class
SUN May 11th | 1pm to 3pm
Celebrate the mother-figure in your life with this one-of-a-kind workshop! Create your very own playable masterpiece with step-by-step instructions from Sophie Kruger! Our all ages painting classes are fun art, not fine art. And you don’t need to be an artist to have fun!
ALL AGES! All children ages 12 and younger should be accompanied by an adult. $5 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot. Price is per game, not per person. Travel sized boards (about 3 inches) are $10, Full Size Boards (about 10inches) are $30.

Crochet Basics - Bumblebee
Tues, May 13th | 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Learn basic crochet stitches with step-by-step instructions from local artist Sophie Kruger! Beginner-friendly, no experience required. Please note, every student will leave with a finished bumblebee, regardless of their progress during the class.
Ages 12 & Up. $5 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot. Price is $10 per person, which includes all necessary materials and step-by-step instructions. Additional hooks will be available to purchase. Please bring cash or a check on the day of class to pay the rest of the class fee.

Leather Flowers Workshop
Tues. April 29th | 6pm to 8pm
This class is PREPAY ONLY, and can be paid either online or in person. To arrange in person payment, please contact Sophie at sophie@caanewton.org or 641-792-1391.
Sculpt One-of-a-kind genuine leather flowers with step-by-step instructions from experienced leather workers! These flowers will never wilt, making for the perfect gift. No previous art experience is required; we will teach you everything you need to know.
Available flowers include: roses, sunflowers, daisies, or dandelions. Price depends on the type of flower you select.
Recommended for ages 12 and up. Please enter through the west handicap ramp door.

Craft & Chill - Mini Houseplant
Tues, April 15th | 6pm to 8pm. Please read all information
Create a handpainted, miniature houseplant that will never wilt or need watered! All materials will be provided.
Class fee is only $5, which can be paid ahead of time or the day of. Bring your favorite beverage, snack to share and enjoy step-by-step instruction with experienced and local artist Sophie Kruger! You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind creation and a newfound talent you’ll want to explore.
Ages 18 and up. You will need to enter through the west side ramp door. Min of 5 participants to hold class.
