Donald C. Byers
(1925 – 2010)

As Founder, Chairman and Board Member of the Iowa Sculpture Festival (ISF) and the CAA, Don Byers was an enthusiastic member of the Jasper County art scene. He was the thought leader of the CAA and enlisted many friends and associates, some whom had helped to establish the ISF. They had all seen first hand the benefits to the community, and they were keenly interested to fill what they saw as a much needed void in the community.

Among his many community affiliations, Byers is most remembered by us as a passionate leader, successfully guiding the CAA (and ISF) until his death in June, 2010 at age 84.

If not for Don Byers, we would not exist. What he started has vastly improved our lives and we believe we can say with relative certainty, the lives of the people we serve.
